Inspired gifts for a magical holiday (shhh, you can find them all online!)

2018-12-12T06:01:01

(BPT) – The holidays are sneaking up on us and, for many people with hectic lives, there are school programs and work holiday parties to attend, trees to decorate, cookies to bake and halls to deck. It seems like there aren’t enough hours in the day to do all of that and shop for the perfect gift for everyone on your list, even if you could manage to snag a parking spot at the mall.

But there’s good news! You can take care of all of your shopping online in a snap, while sitting in front of the fire in your jammies sipping a pumpkin spice latte. And you won’t be alone. According to Shopify, total online holiday sales this year in the U.S. is expected to top $123 billion.

It doesn’t mean you have to settle for cookie-cutter gifts, however. You can find some truly unique and surprising products online to help you make your way to holiday gift-buying perfection. Here are a few ideas to get you started.

Say it with flowers … and a twist. Beautiful floral arrangements can add a sense of magic to your holiday gift giving, but why not make that gift do double duty? If you hop on the 1-800-Flowers.com website and do a search under “Christmas,” you’ll find many options for floral arrangements in vessels that will last long after the new year has dawned.

Think gifts for small places. Not everyone has 10-foot ceilings and palatial living rooms. For people on your list who are living in apartments, assisted living facilities or smaller homes, a Holiday Flower Tree, with its fragrant evergreens, blooms and decorations, brings the holidays to small spaces in a snap.

Focus on table decorations. Search for centerpieces, candles, floral arrangements, tablecloths, runners and other decorations to spruce up the holiday table. They’re an easy way to add some festivity to any room, perfect for people on your list who may be empty nesters and as such don’t take the time to decorate like they used to when their children were small.

Personalized gifts. How about a bottle of wine etched with personalized holiday greetings from you and your family? Or a pendant for your best friend with her children’s names on it? Monogrammed wine glasses or ice buckets? Would you be surprised to learn you can find it all at 1-800-Flowers.com? Most personalized gifts are delivered in gift boxes right to your loved one’s front door.

Take the crowds and hassle out of your holiday shopping this year. Curl up with some holiday cheer and choose exactly the right thing for everyone on your list.

Make traveling somewhere exciting your New Year’s resolution

2018-12-11T07:01:01

(BPT) – Have you ever made a New Year’s resolution before? If you have, chances are you’ve tried to lose weight, advance your career, learn a new hobby or achieve some other such goal to reinvent yourself. All of these goals require a long-standing commitment and many fizzle out, leaving you feeling unsatisfied.

Now’s the time to change things up. Instead of committing yourself to a long-term obligation, set a New Year’s resolution around fun and excitement, the kind you simply won’t find at home. Set your resolution to leave your same-old, same-old behind to travel and explore someplace new and exciting.

Myrtle Beach can be that area for you and your family. With numerous attractions, it’s great for groups or quiet romantic getaways. Here are four reasons Myrtle Beach delivers immediate fun and long-lasting memories.

* Something for everyone. No matter where you go, you should pick a destination that works for your entire group and allows everyone to enjoy the best vacation possible. Myrtle Beach, for example, has numerous activities and attractions that deliver something for everyone. If you are coming with your family, plan a fun-filled vacation with visits to Ripley’s Aquarium, the Carolina Opry or Broadway at the Beach. And if your trip is more about celebrating a specific milestone, be it a birthday or anniversary, there’s no better place to do it than atop the SkyWheel. Soaring to the top of one of the nation’s tallest Ferris wheels will give you a whole new outlook on, well, everything.

* Beyond the beach. The Myrtle Beach area is well known for its 60 miles of pristine beaches but there’s also plenty more to do beyond the beach. The area offers numerous outdoor activities and quiet spaces waiting to be explored, including Brookgreen Gardens, Huntington and Myrtle Beach State Parks — and the famous Myrtle Beach Boardwalk.

* Chance to get off the beaten path. The Myrtle Beach area is more than just a single city center. It is actually composed of 14 distinct communities, each with their own unique offerings. Visiting these communities allows you to explore historic Conway, enjoy live music along Murrells Inlet, or swing on a hammock along the Pawleys Island seashore. Take the time to step away from the crowds and immerse yourself in local activities for a true, one-of-a-kind experience.

* Tremendous value. The new year is no time to introduce new debt, so find value in your travels whenever possible. Myrtle Beach offers lodging and attractions for every budget level, allowing you to plan the trip that matches your goals and your bottom line. Look for lodging and package deals now and throughout the year.

Start planning your resolution today

There’s no time like the present to start a New Year’s resolution. Make yours to explore somewhere new and exciting this year. It’s a great way to start 2019 right, and one resolution you’ll look forward to keeping. To learn more about what you can see and do in Myrtle Beach, visit www.visitmyrtlebeach.com.

5 winter driving tips from the tune-up to the tunes

2018-12-11T11:01:00

(BPT) – “From Atlantic to Pacific, gee, the traffic is terrific” … because it’s time to head home for the holidays! No matter their destination, Americans are more than twice as likely to drive as fly this year (76 percent vs. 24 percent), according to Hankook Tire’s newest Gauge Index Survey.

Where is everyone going? That depends. More than one-third of Americans (36 percent) want to travel somewhere involving sand and palm trees, choosing the beach as their ideal winter getaway. Other top destinations include a trip to the mountains (22 percent) or a family reunion (21 percent).

Wherever you are headed, bank on busy roads. Check out these five tips to ensure everything for your trip is well-oiled, well-maintained and, well, worry-free this winter:

1) Check the tires

Before settling in behind the wheel, don’t forget to look at your tires. The Gauge found 27 percent of Americans hope to stay on top of their car’s maintenance schedule better in the new year, but it’s never too early to kick-start those resolutions! Instead of kicking the tires, try the penny test to see if yours are ready for the road. Insert the penny into the tread groove with Lincoln’s head upside down — if you can see all of his head, it’s time to replace your tires. Check out the i*Pike RW11 tire with an integrated studdable tread design to help you stop on a dime when winter roads get really rough.

2) Stay tuned

Beyond your four tires, it’s also a good idea to give your entire car a quick checkup before taking any road trip. Look under the hood to ensure adequate fluid levels, including antifreeze and wiper fluid; check the headlights, taillights and brake lights to be sure no bulbs are burned out; inspect windshield wipers for signs of wear; and make sure there is air in your spare tire.

3) Pack prepared

Keeping an emergency kit in the car is always a good idea, especially if you’re driving toward inclement weather. A roadside emergency kit should include first-aid materials like bandages and antiseptic, as well as tools that can help in the event of an unexpected breakdown. Be sure you have jumper cables, flashlights (with extra batteries) and roadside flares, as well as drinking water and non-perishable snacks to get you through any delay. For added peace of mind, double-check that your roadside assistance subscription is current.

4) Map your route

While nearly a quarter (24 percent) of Americans have built-in navigation in their vehicles, it’s still a good idea to scout your route before putting the car in drive. At the very least, make sure your passenger has a good sense of direction.

5) Get in the groove

A solid road trip soundtrack still wins as the top road trip entertainment for nearly half (46 percent) of Americans, according to the Gauge. Set your playlist before getting in the car, and make sure it can last the length of your road trip … and then some, in case you do end up in a traffic jam.

Keep your winter travels worry-free with these tips, and here’s to smooth sailing — or rather, driving — all season long!

How to get the most from your cellphone plan

2018-12-11T08:01:00

(BPT) – Picking a cellphone plan is like picking toppings for a pizza — everyone has different preferences. Some people only need a basic plan for making a few phone calls now and then. Others find their cellphones absolutely indispensable, and need access to a steady and fast stream of data all the time. It takes multiple ingredients to satisfy everyone!

Gather facts about usage

In order to find a cellphone plan that is right for your individual needs, it is important to assess your usage. This will help to ensure you don’t end up paying more than you need to for a package that is designed for heavier users. It will also ensure that, if you are a heavy data user, you don’t have to worry about running out. The easiest way to accurately assess your needs is to take a look at a previous invoice. You’ll see the amount of data, minutes and messages you’re using.

You can also look at data usage on your smartphone. For iPhone users, go to Settings, then Cellular, and scroll down to see how much has been used in the current period. For Android users, go to Settings, then Data Usage, and scroll down to see what you’ve used. If you’ve never reset the meter, you may want to reset it and then check back on it a short time later, such as a week or a month. Keep in mind that if you’re accessing Wi-Fi at home or at the office, you are not using data from your cellular plan, so factor this into how much data you really need.

Consider the options

Once you understand what you really use, compare it to what’s included with the wireless plan you’re on. If it offers too little, or way more than you’re actually using, see if different cellphone plans are available that fit your specific needs better, and more affordably.

While many larger carriers now push you toward expensive “unlimited” plans, a company like Consumer Cellular offers a range of low-cost plans designed to fit every type of user, from a simple 250-minute talk-only plan to plans including unlimited minutes and up to 20GB of data each month. Best of all, they’re completely flexible — if your needs change, you can switch plans right up to the last day of a billing cycle with no extra fees for doing so. They also automatically upgrade your plan if you go over your data usage, so you get the best rate for what you actually use, rather than paying a penalty, or having to carry a costly “unlimited” plan just to prevent going over.

There’s something for every taste

And don’t forget about the advantages of having a family plan. You can add lines to your account to share the minutes, texts and data on your plans and save on the expense of everyone carrying their own service. But shop wisely; each carrier will handle additional lines a little differently, with some major carriers simply doubling your bill if you add another user, while others offer more economical options.

There are a wide variety of cellphone plans available to suit all requirements, preferences and budgets these days. Don’t settle for pepperoni when you really want peppers and mushrooms! All you have to do is determine your needs and then look for the most suitable cellphone plan to get what’s right for you.

Tips and tactics for buying a home in a seller’s market

2018-12-11T08:01:00

(BPT) – If you’ve been in the process of buying or selling a home this past year, or even considering it, you know it’s been a seller’s market for the most part. Inventory of homes available for sale has been low, creating more demand than the market can supply. Couple that with low interest rates, which make it a great time for prospective buyers to get more bang for their mortgage dollar, and you’ve got a marketplace in which buyers have been competing for nearly every listing. The forecast for 2019 is rolling in, and RE/MAX and others are predicting the seller’s market trend will continue throughout the coming year, with millennials fueling the home-buyer pipeline.

If you’re selling your home, that’s great news. But it makes the homebuying process trickier. That doesn’t mean you should wait to grab your slice of the American dream, however. An experienced, knowledgeable Realtor® can help you navigate this marketplace and find a great deal on the home of your dreams. Here are some tips from the pros at RE/MAX for what you should be thinking about when considering buying a home.

Prequalification vs. preapproval. They’re not created equal. Prequalification is basically preapproval light. In a mortgage preapproval, you do all of the paperwork upfront. Your bank verifies the amount you can safely afford to pay, and boom, it’s done. Preapproval is attractive to sellers because it means you’re more likely to get the loan. It’s faster, too, because a large chunk of your paperwork is already done. It gives buyers a competitive edge in this tight market.

An experienced Realtor. Don’t even think about starting the process of buying a home in a seller’s market without an experienced Realtor in your corner. It matters in every market, but it’s critical when the sellers are holding all the cards. A savvy real estate pro is much more than someone who shows buyers homes for sale. They’ve got valuable insights, insider knowledge and advice, and can counsel you through the entire process. Realtors have tips and tactics for finding the perfect home, and have the know-how to negotiate a great deal.

Interest rates. The Fed continues to raise interest rates, and financial experts predict we’ll see a few more increases in 2019. Higher interest rates may lower some homebuyers’ purchasing power, which is all the more reason to get out there now if you want to buy.

Low inventory. It’s currently a seller’s market because there isn’t a glut of homes available for buyers to choose from. During the winter months, the inventory of available homes tends to drop even further. But this shouldn’t discourage potential buyers from making offers on homes they love. An experienced Realtor is a huge ace in the hole for buyers when there is low inventory. He or she can guide you through the process, knowing exactly how much to offer to get the deal done.

Speed. Be flexible enough to get to showings quickly, shortly after the home goes on the market. If you love it, make an offer as soon as you can.

Your best offer. In a tight market, it’s go big or (don’t) go home. This is not the time to be cagey about negotiations. Figure out the best offer you can afford and go with it up front.

Buying a home in a tight market can be a challenge, but with a knowledgeable Realtor in your corner, you can still grab your slice of the American dream.

6 value-adding upgrades for your home

2018-12-11T06:01:00

(BPT) – Faced with a tight U.S. housing market, many people are looking to improve the looks, comfort and value of homes they might otherwise sell. Renovating with hardwood is an excellent way of achieving these goals.

“Beautifully milled and finished hardwood provides a unique range of colors and textures that no other material truly matches,” says Linda Jovanovich, of the American Hardwood Information Center. “And of course, wood is amazingly durable. Improvements like new oak flooring, walnut paneling, maple built-ins or cherry mouldings are not only stylish but also long-lasting additions to any residence.”

Here are six hardwood upgrades worth considering for your home.

Invest in solid hardwood flooring

Solid-wood planks have always been the gold standard for residential flooring. You can increase a hardwood floor’s aesthetic impact with a characterful finish, as Armstrong Flooring does in this dining room. Varying in width and length, the “Bark Brown” hickory boards retain saw marks and distinctive knots for a charmingly rustic effect.

Install hardwood moulding and trimwork

Decorative millwork can turn bland interiors into memorable spaces. Minnesota–based architect Meriwether Felt installed stained-cherry mouldings, trims and casings in this master bath renovation. “The stained wood warms up the bathroom and provides richness. The client asked for a luxurious yet elegant feeling, and cherry fit the bill perfectly.”

Maximize built-in hardwood storage

Built-in hardwood solutions tailored for specific storage needs are welcome additions to any home. The perennial problem of where to store wine, for instance, is elegantly addressed in this New Jersey kitchen designed by Ivee Fromkin Interiors. Located for maximum accessibility, the grid of painted-poplar cubbies also creates strong visual interest.

Warm up walls with hardwood planks and panels

Cladding blank walls with hardwood planks or paneling can bring warmth, color and texture to otherwise featureless interiors. Cornerstone Architects raise the decorative temperature of this contemporary Texas bedroom by turning the wall behind the headboard into a magnificent expanse of burnished walnut boards and surrounding the flat-screen TV with white-oak paneling.

Replace inferior doors with solid-hardwood styles

Many American homes feature painted hollow-core interior doors that don’t stand up well to wear and tear. Replacing them with well-constructed, solid-hardwood models, like the crisply tailored stained-oak closet doors that Ink Architecture & Design installed in this serene bedroom, can help transform tired, nondescript spaces into handsome show places.

Refresh your kitchen with hardwood cabinetry

Kitchen makeovers are a very popular home improvement, with new hardwood cabinetry at the top of the list. Created by Henrybuilt kitchen systems for a luxury condominium development in New York City, these solid walnut cabinets are simple and elegant, allowing the natural beauty of the millwork to take center stage. Visit www.hardwoodinfo.com for more about upgrading your home with American hardwoods.

Breaking the Silence of Hepatitis C: The Importance of Treating a Disease that May Not Show Symptoms

2018-12-11T06:01:00

(BPT) – Travel, music festivals, ziplining, touring breweries with friends — Tim Steele always enjoyed a life full of adventure. His health was generally good, but before partially retiring from his career as a computer salesman he decided to schedule some checkups for peace of mind. That’s when he was surprised to learn he had hepatitis C.

“It was out of the blue,” Tim says. “I didn’t have any symptoms. I had no clue. If I had not gone to the doctor, I’d just be sitting around with hep C.”

Although surprised from the diagnosis, he was ready to tackle his health problems and learned there were treatments available. “Knowing that there were treatments available that could cure hepatitis C, helped ease my anxiety about the diagnosis,” he says.

In the U.S., approximately 3.4 million people are infected with chronic hepatitis C.[i] Nearly half of Americans with hepatitis C virus (HCV) do not even know they have it, as the disease often does not exhibit symptoms.[ii],[iii] Even among patients diagnosed with HCV, many choose not to seek out care because they are symptom-free, or for other reasons such as lack of access to treatment or fear of side effects.[iv]

It’s important to talk to your doctor, even if you are not experiencing symptoms, as chronic hepatitis C is a major cause of cirrhosis and liver cancer, and a primary reason for liver transplants.[ii] According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, chronic liver disease in people with hepatitis C can progress slowly, without any signs or symptoms, over several decades.[v]

Fortunately, there are a number of treatments available that can cure people with hepatitis C, meaning the virus is not detectable in the blood months after treatment ends.[vi] Tim found the treatment that worked for him and received blood tests showing the hep C virus was not detectable.

“I want to share my journey in the hopes it will help others diagnosed with hepatitis C,” says Tim.

Tim’s friends and family were also relieved to know there were treatment options available. In fact, loved ones play an important role in helping those with a positive hepatitis C diagnosis get the care they need. Keep in mind, people with hepatitis C may need physical, emotional and spiritual assistance.[vii] Caregivers can help by:

  • Encouraging loved ones to take action
  • Offering to listen
  • Providing advice, hope and support
  • Managing and accompanying your loved one to medical appointments
  • Encouraging loved ones to keep their liver healthy

Go to HepC.com or call 1-800-HEPC-INFO (1-844-4372-4636) for more information and tools that can help you start a conversation with your doctor and get the support you need. While on the site, you can find a doctor that specializes in treating hepatitis C.

Living with Knee Pain – Regaining a Positive Outlook

2018-12-10T12:01:00

(BPT) – Living with knee pain can become part of a daily routine for many, and some resign themselves to thinking it’s just part of the aging process. Often, people live with the pain for years and delay having important conversations with their doctors.

According to a recent survey of more than 500 U.S. women ages 45-65, including those who have had joint replacement surgery and those planning to have joint replacement surgery, 58% of respondents who had yet to have joint replacement surgery experienced pain for more than five years and an average of six days a week.

Dr. Anna Kulidjian, an orthopaedic surgeon at Scripps Clinic-Green Hospital in San Diego, CA, has seen firsthand how knee pain can affect patients’ lives beyond their own daily routine.

“Pain is a terrible thing. It changes your personal relationships, your ability to work, ability to interact with friends, colleagues and family.”

This was no different for Barb Crawford, a former elementary school teacher, wife and grandmother who lived for years with the burden of knee pain prior to considering surgery.

“I was miserable. It affected not just my duties as a teacher, but the activities I knew and loved to do with my husband Ted,” Barb recalls.

Barb, like many others who have suffered through countless years with knee pain, felt like she had run out of options.

“I had tried a lot of different things, whether it was injections or physical therapy. Nothing seemed to work to treat the pain,” Barb recounts.

Having conversations with a loved one about their knee pain can be difficult, but support can come in a variety of ways. With her pain mounting, Barb remembers getting the confidence to consult a surgeon from her fellow teachers. All it took was a nudge.

“No one really spoke up, but when I told my fellow teachers I was considering surgery their encouragement helped me take the next step.”

For Barb, that step was having the right conversation with her surgeon. It was important for her to understand what to expect before and after surgery, and to ensure that her husband was involved throughout the process.

“Although knee replacement surgery is performed more than 760,000 times each year in the U.S. alone1, the decision to proceed is tough and l emphasize to patients the importance of a strong support system. We encourage friends and loved ones to participate in the process any way they can,” comments Dr. Kulidjian.

“It was really hard for me to watch Barb suffer for years,” recalls Ted. “She would come home at night and just sit around because the pain had taken all her energy during the day.” In fact, the same survey mentioned above showed that 52% of respondents say their knee and/or hip pain makes it difficult to be a part of their family.

After Barb and her surgeon discussed options, they decided having both of her knees replaced with the ATTUNE® Knee System was the right choice for her.

And Ted was her biggest supporter.

“Barb approached rehabilitation with the right attitude. We went to physical therapy together and I was there to watch her do her exercises and witness her success,” Ted recalls.

With her dedication to rehab, Barb was able to return to the things she loved and the people she loved with a renewed outlook on life.

Now, nearly five years since Barb’s knee surgery and full recovery, Ted and Barb reflect positively on how they’ve been able to get back to living their lives.

“We did it together,” says Ted. “It changed my life just as much as it changed hers.”

“It was the best decision I ever made, and for me it was so worth it,” Barb concludes.

It’s important to remember that the performance of knee replacements depends on age, weight, activity level and other factors. There are potential risks and recovery takes time. People with conditions limiting rehabilitation should not have these surgeries. Only an orthopaedic surgeon can determine if knee replacement is necessary based on an individual patient’s condition.

For more information and to hear more stories from people who have received the ATTUNE Knee, visit www.ATTUNEKnee.com.

Go from red to red carpet ready in 30 minutes

2018-12-10T07:01:00

(BPT) – Ruddy, red complexions or blotchy skin can mar your red carpet look, and there was little that could diminish this redness and erase broken blood vessels in time for your big event — until now.

Beauty A-listers know that the secret to a flawless complexion is not just about camouflage makeup and staying out of the sun. That’s why they flock to see a pro for Cutera’s Laser Genesis treatment. Laser Genesis is the same YAG laser that reduces scarring, minimizes pores and smooths fine lines and wrinkles, yet it also works to reduce redness and even skin tone with no downtime in as little as 30 minutes, about as long as it takes to sip a soy latte.

It’s not just the millions of people who live with the skin condition rosacea that experience redness and flushing either. Over time, the sun’s UV rays thin the skin and dilate superficial blood vessels, which is why skin tends to look redder as you age. And if you already have flushing or rosacea, this is a double whammy, resulting in more dramatic flushing and redness.

The laser’s energy specifically targets blood vessels, shrinking them. The very same laser also gently heats the upper level of your skin to boost the production of collagen and elastin, the two main structural proteins that give skin its youthful appearance. The new supply of collagen and elastin smooths uneven texture and wrinkles from the inside out. The result? An immediate glow. The collagen regeneration occurs gradually under the surface, revealing fewer lines and wrinkles, tighter pores and other visible improvements within just a few weeks.

“Laser Genesis is a no-downtime treatment for rejuvenation and decreasing redness,” says New York City dermatologist Bradley Bloom. “It can be used on all skin types and is very comfortable. Since it is a non-invasive laser treatment, there is no downtime and makeup can be worn right away. We use Laser Genesis all the time and our patients love it.”

Sometimes referred to as a “lunchtime laser facial,” Laser Genesis is quick and painless, taking less than 30 minutes per treatment session. “I recommend a series of treatments to get the best results, and it can be used on the face, neck and chest,” he says.

For these reasons, Laser Genesis is one of the most popular procedures at Dr. Bloom’s practice and also at Dr. Tahl Humes’ VITAHL Medical Aesthetics in Denver and Chicago. “We use it to treat almost every patient because it is so versatile and patients often find the treatment soothing and comfortable. We can address pore size, texture, fine lines, wrinkles and redness, and also use it for overall skin health to maintain the results from more aggressive treatments patients undergo.”

So if you’re ready to get red carpet ready, schedule a consultation with a Cutera Laser Genesis provider near you today: https://cutera.com/patients/find-a-provider.

5 reasons hazelnuts are about to become your new favorite nut

2018-12-07T14:51:00

(BPT) – People are going nuts for nuts due to their versatility, nutrition content and snackability, but where does the humble hazelnut rank among its nutty friends? If it wasn’t on your radar before, here are five reasons hazelnuts are about to become your new favorite nut.

1. Boasting a flavor like no other

Hazelnuts’ buttery, sweet flavor cannot be replicated, even by other nuts. That makes them the perfect ingredient to transform your favorite recipes. Bake them into bars, grind them into butter or meal for pie crusts, use them to top salads or blend them into sauces and spreads like pesto, hummus and romesco. No matter what you’re cooking, hazelnuts will add a unique flavor and texture to any dish.

2. Grown in the U.S.

You want to know where your food comes from, and with hazelnuts the answer is simple. With 99 percent of the U.S. hazelnut crop grown in Oregon by more than 800 multi-generational farm families, hazelnuts are an ingredient you can feel good about eating. Growers continue to find hazelnut production to be an excellent use of land thanks to the region’s temperate ocean, mountain and river climates, and rich volcanic soil. In fact, hazelnut acreage has doubled in the past five years and is expected to continue to grow tremendously in the coming years.

3.  Good for the heart

Hazelnuts are high in monounsaturated fat, a.k.a. the “good fat,” so they fit perfectly into diets like keto, Whole30 and paleo. According to the FDA, enjoying 1.5 ounces of hazelnuts per day may help reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. Additionally, a one-ounce serving of hazelnuts equals 20 percent of your recommended daily value of Vitamin E, which may help protect cells from damage. Learn more at Oregonhazelnuts.org.

4. Served by top chefs

Thanks to their premium quality, versatility and texture, trendsetting chefs are adding hazelnuts to their menus in new and exciting ways. Hazelnuts have become the go-to ingredient for some of today’s hottest dishes, like James Beard Award finalist Cathy Whims’ Toasted Hazelnut Polenta at Nostrana, her seasonal Italian restaurant in Portland, Ore. “Hazelnuts add an unexpected, slightly crunchy texture and rich, velvety flavor to our classic polenta. We pride ourselves on simple food from honest ingredients, and hazelnuts fit perfectly into that mission.”

5. In your favorite craveable snacks

If you love the taste of hazelnuts, the good news is you can enjoy them in more places than ever before. Hazelnuts are being used by many of today’s most popular brands. From hazelnut Oreos and M&Ms to RXBARs and lattes, brands are recognizing hazelnuts for their premium flavor.
