Giving Season is Around the Corner: Make a Difference with Plasma

  1. What is plasma, and how does it help people? Plasma is the liquid portion of your blood that carries blood components throughout the body. Not only can it be easily replaced by the body, but it serves as a key component in creating life-saving therapies for those living with rare diseases.
  2. How does plasma donation work? Plasma is not a substance that can be produced in a laboratory or some other artificial environment — it can only be obtained from a healthy adult. The donation process works in a similar way to a typical blood donation, but the plasma is separated from the blood and the blood elements are returned to your body. The process takes about an hour in its entirety, and if you’re healthy, you can donate as often as twice a week!
  3. What are the personal benefits of plasma donation? When you donate plasma, you are positively impacting the lives of patients around the world who are living with blood and immunodeficiency disorders. Without donations from people like you, the lifesaving therapies they receive would not be possible. In addition, you are financially compensated for the time you spend donating plasma.

(BPT) – As the giving season is upon us, it’s the perfect time to make a difference in the lives of rare disease patients by donating plasma. As a BioLife donor, you will also receive financial compensation for your time, and can use that money towards gifts for your loved ones or towards a treat for yourself!

BioLife is an industry leader in the collection of high-quality plasma that is processed into life-saving plasma-based therapies, with over 100 centers across the U.S., Austria, Czech Republic and Hungary. Now, BioLife is hoping to further their impact on the Kansas City community with the opening of their third center in the area.

“The opening of BioLife’s third Kansas City center marks our continued commitment to give back to the community and to address the growing need for plasma in the rare disease patient community, and with giving season upon us, it’s an ideal time to donate,” said Tyson Brimberry, Center Manager at BioLife. “We are committed not only to our patients, but also to becoming a neighbor our community members can trust and depend upon, and we encourage them to learn more about us and how they can give back to patients by donating plasma.”

If you’re interested in donating, BioLife is now accepting donors for its new Kansas City center opening November 10th. To learn more, visit www.biolifeplasma.com or download the BioLife app.
