Breaking the cycle: A revolutionary approach to treating mental health and addiction

2025-06-16T00:01:00

(BPT) – Struggling with a substance use disorder is never easy, and is even more difficult to overcome without substantial help from others. One reason substance use can be so challenging is that many people are coping with a variety of mental health conditions along with their substance use. According to the nonprofit Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation, 79% of Hazelden Betty Ford treatment center patients have had more than one treatable mental health condition, and on average 3.67 different diagnoses, including depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, trauma, PTSD and ADHD, to name a few.

Historically, treatment for mental health and substance use were considered as separate issues, requiring people who needed help for both to seek care from multiple providers or clinics at different times — and without adequate or any health insurance coverage. But attitudes toward substance use and mental health have changed over the years, leading to a better understanding of the connection between the two, and resulting in insurance coverage options for treatment.

Providing the best possible care for the many people needing substance use treatment and help with a mental health condition involves much more than just treating them both at the same time, however. It requires a well-integrated program, also called a co-occurring program, that considers the whole person and all of their needs. While the concept of co-occurring care isn’t new at Hazelden Betty Ford or in the industry, the program at Hazelden Betty Ford expands and redefines the depth and scope of what co-occurring care means.

“Substance use rarely happens as a singular diagnosis, and mental health care is a powerful tool in lasting recovery,” said Kelly Lindberg, Psy.D., LP, LADC, vice president of Mental Health, Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation. “Our expanded co-occurring program is designed as a recovery path that integrates mental health and substance use treatment to help patients brave the layers of co-occurring conditions, with wrap-around support for their families as well.”

A new model of care

To better address the many complex issues around mental health and substance use, Hazelden Betty Ford has drawn on 75 years of experience helping people in recovery to develop a next-generation model of care, using their unique set of resources to improve the quality in mental health and substance use treatment.

Integrating everything a patient might need in one program, including psychiatry and medication management, therapists licensed in both mental health and substance use counseling, holistic care and a community of peers for group learning and support, helps people move from coping with life to living their lives.

Advantages of an integrated approach

The nonprofit treatment center also acknowledges that every recovery journey is unique, which is why Hazelden Betty Ford developed outpatient and inpatient programs that are flexible enough to fit each individual’s needs, motivations and goals in all of its 15 locations across nine states, as well as virtual care.

People seeking help with substance use and mental health concerns, and their families, will benefit from:

  • Receiving all their care in one place.
  • Combining therapies, community and skill-building, based on the needs of each patient and their family.
  • Multi-disciplinary teams including psychiatrists, nurses, mental health and substance use counselors, family specialists, recovery support experts and more — many of whom received training and education at Hazelden Betty Ford.
  • Philanthropy-funded services free of charge for families affected by a loved one’s substance use disorder, contributing to the quality of care and outcomes for each patient.
  • Emphasis on belonging and community to support lifelong recovery.
  • Improved access to care through innovative tools such as Wayfinder, an evidence-based screening and brief intervention tool, and Connection Point, a virtual coaching service to help people find the right type of care and determine their next steps.

“Our nationally standardized co-occurring curriculum is built on decades of expertise and backed by research and proven outcomes,” said Joseph Lee, M.D., president and CEO, Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation. “To truly overcome the stigma in substance use and mental health, we must consistently raise the bar on quality, which is what we’re striving for with this next-generation model.”

Resources for teens and families

With mental health becoming an increasing concern for children and teens, it’s more crucial than ever for treatment centers to develop programs designed specifically to meet the needs of younger patients. For teens or young adults struggling with depression or anxiety, who may be withdrawing from friends, family and activities they would normally enjoy, families can encourage them to seek help from experts trained and experienced in providing care and support for young people, such as at Hazelden Betty Ford’s center in Plymouth, Minnesota.

This program is designed to provide integrated support for mental health and substance use in teens aged 12-18 and young adults, 18-25. Patients at the center receive individual therapy, peer connection and medication management all in one program, along with family support.

Each person’s treatment plan is specifically tailored to what that individual needs, and is guided by certified adolescent specialists including addiction board certified pediatricians and psychiatrists, therapists and counselors. Family coaching, counseling and educational services are also provided, along with positive peer groups and extracurricular activities.

Vinyl products are recyclable — and the industry is taking the lead

2025-06-13T11:31:28

(BPT) – By Ned Monroe, CEO of the Vinyl Institute

PVC, aka vinyl or polyvinyl chloride, is a versatile component found in many of the products we use every day — from siding and pipes to medical supplies to car upholstery and record albums. Along with being safe and economical, vinyl is known for its durability. PVC pipes and other PVC products can stay in use for decades — which often leads to the misconception that PVC is not recycled or recyclable. Nothing could be further from the truth. Reusing and recycling PVC helps to cut back on waste, and adding recycled content to products reduces the demand for virgin vinyl resin. Because of this, vinyl recycling is growing across the U.S. and Canada.

PVC is reusable and recyclable

Vinyl products are trusted to protect our homes and transport our water, and have countless other uses throughout our daily lives. And many vinyl products, such as siding, roofing and records, remain in use for decades. This means that very little vinyl is available for recycling by comparison to common packaging materials like water bottles. While it is challenging to isolate PVC from other types of plastics in mechanical recycling, several new technologies can effectively handle mixed plastic streams containing PVC.

By using a variety of processing methods, and because PVC is so versatile, there is ample opportunity to reuse the material in the creation of new products. Surveys have shown that 1.1 billion pounds of PVC are being recycled in the U.S. and Canada annually1, and the industry is making significant investments to increase recycling streams and ease takeback efforts so that even more vinyl products can be diverted from the landfill and become valuable in new ways.

Home in the process of having the old windows removed and will be replaced by the new vinyl windows in their place.

For example, one company is using post-consumer and post-industrial PVC to produce car mats and other accessories. Another is recycling PVC from wires and cables for use in new products. One non-profit is reusing old billboards and converting them into high-value, long-lasting tarps for temporary roofing to protect people after disasters.

Vinyl recycling in action

The vinyl industry is stepping up in many ways. The Vinyl Institute is one of the organizations taking the lead on increasing PVC recycling opportunities. As part of its in-house Vinyl Sustainability Council, it’s providing resources and education to manufacturers, recyclers, end users and others.

One of the organization’s largest efforts is VIABILITY™, a post-consumer recycling grant program designed to increase post-consumer PVC recycling and kickstart new PVC recycling technologies. In just over two years, the program has awarded more than $2 million to 21 organizations, covering everything from equipment to logistics to education.

Just one example is the Revinylize Recycling Collaborative, which collects post-consumer residential vinyl siding; funding from VIABILITY helped Revinylize scale up its branding and operational website. Revinylize’s pilot program in Northeast Ohio helped drive the collection of more than 400,000 pounds of post-consumer PVC; without the grant, Revinylize estimates it would have taken three to four years to accomplish what it achieved in just eight months. The program has now expanded to multiple states.

How you can take part in vinyl recycling

Just like with recycling single-use cans and bottles, we all can contribute to recycling vinyl products at the end of their life — and it’s getting easier to do.

If you have PVC materials ready for disposal — whether you’re replacing your vinyl flooring or tossing an old garden hose — you can search Vinyl Institute’s Recycling Directory to find recyclers in your area.

In addition, you can reach out to your municipality to find out what they’re doing and encourage them to set up a drop-off point for PVC recycling. When opportunities present themselves, ensure your colleagues and neighbors are aware of PVC recycling options. Because PVC can be and is being recycled.

Six ways to stay sharp as you age

2025-06-13T08:01:01

(BPT) – Just like our muscles, our brain functions at its best when it’s given a “workout.” Challenging your mental acuity — whether through reading, playing word games, completing puzzles or taking on math challenges — is a great way to keep your brain in top shape. Staying sharp as we age, though, is a whole-body activity. While changes in brain structure and function can potentially slow us down, declining coordination and “reduced ability to modify movements to respond to changes in the environment” can also impact our ability to react.

AARP members can use their member benefits to save money while focusing on healthy lifestyle habits from head to toe and inside and out:

“So many wonderful tools are now available to help us keep our minds and bodies sharp at any age,” said Doug Armstrong, Vice President of Health Products and Services at AARP Services, Inc. “AARP Services strives to connect members with as many of these as possible, from apps and online services to insurance options and more, making it easier than ever to prioritize health and wellbeing.”

1. Home in on hearing

Difficulty with hearing can make us feel disconnected from the world around us. Ensuring we’re hearing at our best not only enables us to stay in the conversation but also helps keep us safe. Particularly when there is a person, vehicle or danger nearby.

AARP provides hearing care solutions that help make it easy to get your hearing checked and address any issues. With AARP® Hearing Solutions provided by UnitedHealthcare Hearing, members can save an average of $2,000 per pair on prescription hearing aids and 15% on accessories plus up to $200 off over-the-counter hearing aids. Members also receive a free hearing exam and consultation, with personalized support through a large nationwide network of hearing providers. No insurance is needed to use the program.

2. Check out your eyes

Look out! Healthy vision is a critical component to maintaining strong spatial awareness and depth perception. Good vision enables you to accurately perceive the spatial relationships between objects and their surroundings like navigating steps, driving or playing sports. Healthy vision also means you can continue to get around on your own, whether by car or on foot, enabling you to maintain your independence.

Maintain good vision health through regular checkups with an eye care professional, and be sure to take any necessary steps to address problems before they get worse.

AARP members have access to information on vision insurance options that include individual and family plans featuring annual eye exams, glasses and lens enhancements, such as progressives and anti-glare coating, and more.

3. Stay agile

An object in motion stays in motion. To stay agile and quick on your feet, it’s important to get regular exercise and, if possible, build your strength and flexibility. If you’ve been sidelined by an injury, procedure or recurring pain, physical therapy can help with recovery and resilience. It can even teach you a few moves that will help you stay sharp for years to come.

Members and non-members can receive at-home physical therapy from AARP® Physical Therapy At Home™ by Luna. Most insurances and Medicare are accepted by Luna. A prescription may not be needed to start.

4. Maintain a healthy mouth

Simply focusing on your health and wellbeing is a major step toward staying sharp. All the systems of our body are connected in some way. Take your mouth, for example. Studies have increasingly found a link between dental issues like plaque, gum disease, gingivitis and other more serious conditions in the body, including memory loss.

To help keep these ailments at bay, brush and floss daily, and schedule regular dental visits to make sure your teeth and gums are healthy. AARP members can find information on dental insurance options that include individual or family coverage for the most common dental procedures.

5. Get regimen reminders

Sometimes, medication might be needed to help us stay sharp, and even those with the quickest minds might need a little help remembering to take it. If your regimen requires multiple medications taken at specific times, it’s a good idea to get assistance with tracking them.

Hero Smart Pill Dispenser stores, sorts and dispenses up to a 90-day supply of 10 different medications. The connected medication management app helps you manage medication routines, track your supply and understand your adherence. AARP members get exclusive savings on a Hero subscription.

6. Monitor your mental wellness, too

Being in a positive mental state, relaxed and stress-free, can help you stay focused and ready to seize the day. With Dario, members have free access to self-guided programs that include meditations, activities and self-care tips — all designed to support your mental wellness. You can also find content and tools that may help you relieve stress, sleep better, lift your mood and more.

Advancing in age doesn’t have to slow you down, mentally or physically. By adopting healthy lifestyle habits, staying on top of your regular check-ups, and staying active and engaged with the world around you, staying sharp can be simple. Creating Lifelong Connections in Healthcare: A Story of Inspiration and Friendship

2025-06-13T09:01:00

(BPT) – A nurse’s compassionate care leaves an ever-lasting impact on a dialysis patient.

Eight years ago, George Godoy arrived at a DaVita center in Texas to learn about home hemodialysis (HHD). His goal was to shift from in-center treatments to a home modality that would empower him to reclaim time for the activities he loved. As George walked through the front door, he was greeted by a kind nurse. Little did he know she would profoundly impact his kidney care journey and his life.

Her name was Sylvia.

The connection was immediate, and George compares their early interactions to the dynamic between a teacher and a student, saying, “She had so much knowledge; it was like attending a masterclass in dialysis. I appreciated the way she was so direct and authentic. Sylvia built trust with me from the very beginning.”

Not only did Sylvia make a great first impression, but she also made space for George’s questions as they began to meet more frequently. She listened to his ideas and concerns and, above all, remembered the little things. “I quickly learned that George loved riding his motorcycle and was a talented woodworker,” said Sylvia. “He has a zest for life, and it was always fun hearing about his bike travels or what he was creating in his workshop. As a nurse, my goal is to make patients feel comfortable, and part of that involves treating individuals compassionately as a whole person. No patient, no matter what they’re battling, wants to feel like a number.”

Over time, George maintained a successful at-home dialysis program, and the teacher and student soon blossomed into close friends. Then, one day, George looked to Sylvia for career advice. He decided to become a patient care technician (PCT) at DaVita.

George reflected, “I remember thinking how she made me feel supported at my lowest moments and always helped me maintain a positive outlook. Being a patient myself, I know that sometimes, it can feel like ‘us against the world.’ Sylvia taught me the importance of a strong and compassionate care team, and that stayed with me. Ultimately, it’s about human connection. We need to remember that we’re all in this together.”

Today, George and Sylvia work in different centers, but that doesn’t prevent George from checking in on her. “I’ll stop by Sylvia’s clinic to grab supplies, and yes, we’ll talk about my treatment progress. But most of the time, it’s two friends catching up about our families and what television shows we’re watching. You could say that we’re pretty inseparable at this point.”

Seeing George in scrubs and talking about his patients with the same empathy she offered him fills Sylvia with joy. “George is a very special person who will change the way others receive kidney care treatment. He’s taught me so much about myself and life. I feel blessed that our paths crossed so many years ago, and I’m even more grateful to call him a lifelong friend.”

George and Sylvia’s story serves as a reminder that healthcare can and should be more than treatment plans and test results. Sometimes, a simple connection can change a patient’s life and even shape their future.

The Army made that?! How everyday items found their way from the field to your fingertips

2025-06-13T10:01:01

(BPT) – The U.S. Army turns 250 this year — one year older than the nation itself. But how has America’s largest military branch maintained its competitive edge year over year for two and a half centuries? The answer: innovation. Since 1775, the Army’s dedication to modernization has inspired advances in every field from technology and medicine to transportation and communications, transforming not just the force, but the world.

The U.S. Army Center of Military History works to bridge the Army’s historic past with its promising future, and contributed to the following list of the seemingly ordinary conveniences with surprising Army origins:

The Supercomputer

The birth of the modern-day supercomputer extends back to World War II, when the Army funded and commissioned the development of the Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer (ENIAC) to help calculate artillery trajectories during warfare. The completed device — which consisted of 40 nine-foot-tall cabinets, weighed over 30 tons, and occupied 1,800 feet of space — significantly outperformed preceding analog processes, and served as the nation’s premiere computing machine for much of its lifespan. Often considered the precursor to today’s supercomputers, ENIAC and its Army-sponsored successors, EDVAC and ORDVAC, helped lay the foundation for much of modern computing.

Walkie-Talkies

The critical need for Soldiers to be able to talk to each other in the field spurred innovations in communications, including the original “walkie-talkie,” a two-way radio which was carried on Soldiers’ backs. To supplement this cumbersome device, the five-pound handheld “handie-talkie” was developed to provide a compact means of close-range tactical communication in WWII. This predecessor to the walkie-talkie of today had an antenna over three feet long and proved to be a valuable asset on the chaotic battlefields of WWII.

The critical need for Soldiers to communicate in the field spurred innovations that inspired the walkie-talkie.

Fashion Trends

Born out of necessity and practicality in the field, Army clothing trends and accessories have found a dual purpose for both Soldiers and civilians alike. For example, the distinct shape of aviator sunglasses has origins dating back to WWII. Originally classified as “goggles” upon their introduction in the 1930s, these now iconic shades were designed to protect the eyes of U.S. Army Air Corps (and later, U.S. Army Air Force) pilots while flying. The leather bomber jacket — a staple in many winter closets — was also popularized during WWII, and although the iconic A-2 model began to be phased out in 1943, many crewmen continued wearing their jackets and adopted the habit of decorating them with elaborate artwork.

Food Preservation

To supply troops with much-needed nutrition wherever they are, the Army used food science to develop practices like high-pressure processing and freeze-drying to produce long-lasting rations for Soldiers. These techniques are used in many consumer-packaged goods today, making safe, shelf-stable foods accessible to everyone, including things like canned foods, deli meats, juice pouches, packaged crackers and more. These processes make many foods lightweight and long-lasting, so they’re ideal for everything from travel to emergencies.

Using common food-preservation techniques, like high-pressure processing and freeze-drying, the Army ensures Soldiers are fed wherever they are located.

Emergency Transportation

According to the National Museum of the U.S. Army, a Soldier who receives medical attention within six hours of injury has a 600% increase in their chance of survival. Dedicated aeromedical evacuation units employing fixed-wing aircrafts were activated in 1942, and although the process was valuable, it was difficult for airplanes to reach Soldiers in rugged terrain. The first MedEvac by helicopter occurred later in WWII, when a U.S. Army helicopter rescued Soldiers in Burma, proving that the more agile transport was an excellent tool for evacuating those in need. This sparked technology that would go on to save countless lives not only on battlefields, but around the world.

U.S Army transportation vehicle
The Army’s Humvee was built to withstand all terrains and has inspired many four-wheel-drive vehicles on the road today.

Four-Wheel-Drive Vehicles

Many of the vehicles you see on the road today — like the Hummer and the Jeep — are derived from those invented for military needs. The Jeep was designed in WWII when the Army required a sturdy, cross-country tactical and reconnaissance vehicle for Soldiers. Over 600,000 Jeeps were produced during WWII, making it the largest production run of any four-wheel-drive vehicle up to that point, and it spawned a line of popular civilian descendants that continues to this day. More recently, the Hummer H1 was a direct civilian conversion of the Army’s Humvee (HMMWV), a light tactical multipurpose vehicle that filled many of the same roles as the Jeep.

Highways

The over 40,000-mile network of the Interstate Highway System (IHS) was authorized in 1956 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower, who early in his Army career participated in the 1919 Transcontinental Motor Convoy — a cross-country exercise intended in part to test the military’s mobility during potential wartimes. The trek showcased the shortcomings of the nation’s infrastructure, and Eisenhower believed a dedicated system of roadways would be essential for defense, troop mobilization, and economic development. Today, the IHS remains crucial for economic growth, urban development, and travel and tourism.

Army Innovation Continues

The Army is continuing to evolve and innovate, ensuring that the force remains unmatched in its ability to support the nation’s people and priorities into the future. Not only do advancements include cutting-edge drone technology and AI-powered capabilities, but Soldier-centric programs like the Army’s Holistic Health & Fitness system (H2F) have been designed to optimize both physical and non-physical Soldier performance to maintain the force’s readiness and cinto the future.

Half of Americans say the memories made during vacation are priceless, yet 1 in 3 plan to cut back spending on travel

2025-06-12T09:01:00

(BPT) – About half of Americans (44%) say the memories they make when vacationing are priceless, yet economic pressures are reshaping how they approach travel. New Empower research shows that many plan to cut back on travel spending in 2025, embracing “staycations” and using cost-saving strategies to stay under budget in the face of changing economic market conditions.

One in 5 (20%) say they prioritize travel regardless of what’s going on in the economy, while a quarter (24%) prefer to see travel as an investment in themselves rather than focusing on how much it costs. On average, Americans expect to spend approximately $10,600 on trips and vacations in 2025.

Key takeaways

  • Nearly half of Americans (47%) say the increased cost of living, economy (44%), and tariffs (30%) are impacting their 2025 travel plans.
  • Around a third (32%) plan to spend less on travel this year than they did last year, compared to 18% who expect to spend more.
  • Nearly a third (29%) of people will take staycations or day trips instead of domestic or international travel this year.
  • 38% of travelers think staying under budget is very important when vacationing, but only 28% actually set a budget.
  • Gen Z is around twice as likely to say they’ll be traveling more in 2025 than other generations (23% compared to 13%).
  • Over half of Americans (52%) have used or will use AI to plan or enhance their travel this year, such as getting real-time recommendations for restaurants or attraction suggestions.

Americans are spending less on travel this year

Around 1 in 3 people (32%) expect to spend less on travel this year than they did last year, compared to 18% who expect to spend more. Those cutting back say their travel plans are being impacted by increased costs of living (47%), the overall state of the economy (44%), hotel prices (38%), and even tariffs (30%).

In total, only 15% of people are planning more trips than they did in 2024, and another 12% aren’t planning to travel at all. Additionally, over a quarter of Americans (27%) say they won’t travel by plane this year in order to save money, despite flight prices being down 8% compared to April 2024.

This doesn’t mean Americans are skipping vacations this year. Nearly 30% will be taking a staycation instead of booking domestic or international travel. Others (24%) state they’re willing to cut back on expenses to fund their travel plans, while 1 in 5 (20%) say they prioritize travel regardless of what’s going on in the economy.

Cost-saving is key for most travelers

When Americans do travel, the majority (82%) make use of cost-saving strategies like picking budget-friendly destinations (45%), opting for free activities and attractions (37%), or staying in less expensive lodging like hostels or shared homes (35%).

Others say they’re willing to travel during the off-season (32%) and cook their own meals while vacationing (30%). One in 5 (20%) say they’d flex their trip destination or timing to get cheaper plane fares, and 18% use AI to help them find budget-friendly flights, accommodations, or activities.

Overall, 38% of people think staying under budget is very important when traveling, but only 28% set actual limits on how much they can spend during a trip.

For many, traveling is worth any expense

Despite cutting back on vacation spending this year, many Americans believe travel is important, no matter how expensive. Close to half (44%) say the memories they make while traveling are priceless, while a quarter (24%) prefer to see travel as an investment in themselves rather than focusing on how much it costs. On average, Americans expect to spend approximately $10,600 on trips and vacations in 2025.

Some Americans (26%) have gone into debt to fund vacations or holiday travel, and others (13%) have dipped into their retirement savings to pay for trips. These approaches aren’t the norm, however, as Americans typically plan to pay for travel in full using personal savings (41%).

Other popular ways of funding travel include credit card rewards and points (25%) and side hustle earnings (20%). A smaller number are willing to create travel savings funds and postpone their trips until next year (15%). Another 13% say they’re holding off on big travel plans until they retire, but nearly twice as many (22%) prioritize traveling now.

Travel spending habits

A third of Americans (33%) pay only for their own expenses when they travel. Others cover travel costs for their partners (27%) or multiple family and group members (21%). Only 1 in 10 people primarily travel on someone else’s dime.

Comparing age groups, Gen Z is most likely to have their travel funded by somebody else, but 85% still cover some or all of their trip expenses. Gen Z is also around twice as likely to say they’ll be traveling more in 2025 than other generations (23% compared to 13%).

Some 37% of people say they feel pressured to go outside their budget to travel with friends or attend bachelor or bachelorette trips — and this number is higher for Millennials (52%) and Gen Zers (47%) compared to Gen Xers (36%) and Baby Boomers (9%). Across all age groups, Gen Z (14%) is most likely to admit to taking trips they can’t afford, though Gen X (12%) isn’t far behind.

More key findings from the study:

  • Rising costs: Americans say high hotel costs (38%), gas prices (34%), and airline fares (33%) are impacting their travel plans this year.
  • AI travel partners: Over half of Americans (52%) have used or will use AI to plan or enhance their travel in 2025. The most popular use of AI when traveling is to get real-time recommendations like restaurant or attraction suggestions.
  • AI adoption: 65% of Gen Zers and Millennials use AI to enhance their travel, compared to only 29% of Baby Boomers and 52% of Gen Xers.
  • Cashing in on refunds: 1 in 10 Americans plan to use their tax refunds to fund travel this year.
  • Travel debts: Gen Xers (19%) and Millennials (17%) are nearly twice as likely to say they’ve gone into debt to travel than Gen Z (9%) or Baby Boomers (10%).

7 ways outdoor wifi can upgrade your summertime fun

2025-06-12T08:01:00

(BPT) – Imagine streaming your favorite show from your backyard hammock or enjoying a playlist with friends by the pool this summer. From relaxing escapes to backyard gatherings, elevate your outdoor adventures this summer by upgrading your mesh wifi system with an outdoor wifi device, extending your internet for tech-fueled fun all summer long.

With outdoor wifi, you can give yourself the freedom to stream, work, play and create outside anytime, anywhere on your property. Check out these seven ways outdoor wifi can help you bring the indoors outdoors so you can make the most of the season.

1. Boost your backyard entertaining

Whether you’re new to outdoor entertaining or regularly host backyard movie nights or game-day watch parties, you’ll need fast, reliable wifi to stream all your favorite media content this summer and beyond.

Make sure you and your guests can enjoy your cinematic experience nearly buffer-free with eero Outdoor 7. This dual-band mesh wifi router allows you to enjoy unlimited outdoor entertainment, rain or shine. With an IP66 rating, eero Outdoor 7 will hold up in even the most extreme temperatures year-round, whether it’s a freezing -40°F or sweltering 131°F.

The eero Outdoor 7 is designed for easy setup via a user-friendly app and was designed with various outdoor surfaces in mind, so your device can seamlessly blend into its environment and be easily installed on stucco, vinyl siding, wood or fiber cement walls.

2. Pump up the jams with outdoor speakers

Do you enjoy DJing your summer pool parties, or streaming music on your smart speakers while you garden or grill? Or maybe you’re just looking for some fun tunes to play during an evening around the firepit. With eero Outdoor 7, you can keep the beats going day or night — or at least until the neighbors ask you to quiet down!

3. Keep your home secure with outdoor cameras

Security cameras are a must for large properties. Not only do they provide peace of mind, but they can also help you keep an eye out for packages or make sure your kids get home safe from their summer activities.

But maintaining a strong wifi connection across a large area can be challenging. With a 15,000-square-foot reach, eero Outdoor 7 extends your existing eero wifi network for maximum coverage so you can easily keep those cameras connected.

4. Bring intelligence to your yard with smart gardening devices

Technological advancements have made gardening easier than ever before. With long-range outdoor wifi, you can monitor birds through wildlife cameras to protect your garden from backyard visitors, or install wifi-enabled smart sprinklers to water your flowers, herbs and vegetables automatically, helping them flourish with ease.

5. Create a strong signal in your garage

Your garage may not be the first spot you think of needing outdoor wifi, but how many times has your smart garage opener failed to connect or your car operating system update stalled? An eero mesh wifi system with eero Outdoor 7 can fix those everyday headaches and keep everything running smoothly by extending your wifi network to those previously untapped dead zones.

For those whose garages double as a workout space, special project workshop or woodworking station, eero Outdoor 7 can help you stream workout videos or keep you entertained as you listen to podcasts while dedicating time to your crafts.

6. Bring on the backyard barbecue with a smart grill

Are you ready to level up your grill game? Whether you already own or have your eye on a specific smart grill model for your summer cookouts, make sure you get the optimal cookout experience with outdoor internet. Wifi-connected grills let you monitor and adjust temperatures remotely through an app, helping you serve up perfectly cooked food every time. With a strong wifi connection powered by eero Outdoor 7, you’ll never have to worry about overdone or underdone meat again.

7. Turn your patio into your outdoor office

If you work from home, give yourself the freedom to roam and work remotely from your patio. With eero Outdoor 7’s lightning-fast Wi-Fi 7, you can enjoy wireless speeds up to 2.1 Gbps. That means you can join your weekly team meetings or video calls from the comfort of your backyard without buffering or dropouts.

This summer, soak up every second of sunshine and fresh air. To learn more about how eero Outdoor 7 can help you take your outdoor summertime fun from good to great, visit eero.com.
