LG Automotive Content Platform: Driving the Future of In-Cabin Connectivity

As Chris Jo highlighted, we have extended webOS — trusted across 240 million devices worldwide — into vehicles with our webOS-based Automotive Content Platform (ACP). This enables automakers to deliver rich multimedia experiences such as OTT streaming, cloud gaming and video conferencing on a global scale. With full UI/UX customization and new revenue opportunities, the webOS platform is moving beyond the living room and shaping the future of the mobility ecosystem.

Xbox: Cloud Gaming Hits the Road

For Xbox, this partnership is an exciting moment, finding a new way to bring the joy of gaming to more people. Chris Lee, Vice President of Marketing at Xbox, noted the challenge of bringing the Xbox experience from TVs into cars, particularly around performance and seamless integration.

By leveraging our ACP, Xbox delivers a quality in-car gaming experience via its popular cloud gaming service, while LG manages the essential integration and certification work. This means passengers can access the same trusted Xbox Cloud Gaming service wherever they travel — during a charging stop or long road trip. Chris described it as making the journey “not only more entertaining but supporting the flexibility players expect from Xbox,” and I believe this underscores the true value of collaboration.

Zoom: Meetings on Wheels

Brendan Ittelson, Chief Ecosystem Officer at Zoom, spoke about creating a consistent collaboration experience across different vehicles — a vision that naturally aligns with ours. By integrating directly with our webOS-based ACP, Zoom can deliver updates and improvements as soon as they’re ready without waiting on OEM software cycles.

Drivers can join meetings safely in voice-only mode, and passengers can attend camera-enabled video calls, while Zoom AI Companion automatically captures summaries and action items in the background. As Brendan explained, “The in-cabin experience is quickly shifting from passive to purposeful,” becoming a place where people can stay connected and productive without sacrificing safety.

Affectionate Intelligence for the Road Ahead

Looking at the bigger picture, the future of in-vehicle innovation will be shaped by AI — what we call “Affectionate Intelligence” — that not only understands users but also seamlessly integrates functions for safety, entertainment, communication and comfort. Based on this research, Oxford Economics estimates that if the top 20 organizations from the Forbes Global 2000 list in each of these industries — retail, manufacturing and T&L — achieved meaningful improvements in their frontline workflows, each company could potentially earn an average of $3 billion in higher revenue and an average of $120 million in added profit.

The mortgage insurance tax deduction is returning – making homeownership more affordable for American families

(BPT) – Many aspiring homebuyers know that saving for a 20% down payment can be a major hurdle to homeownership. As nearly 40 million homeowners can attest, however, private mortgage insurance (MI) allows for as little as 3% down to qualify for home financing sooner. U.S. Mortgage Insurers (USMI) reports that the private MI industry supported more than 800,000 low down payment borrowers in 2024 alone.

“Private MI is one of the most powerful financial tools available to homebuyers today since it can put homeownership within reach much sooner, giving buyers additional years of wealth-building,” said Seth Appleton, president of USMI.

Consider this: USMI’s report found that it could take a typical potential homebuyer 26 years to save for a 20% down payment plus closing costs on a home at the national median sales price. A typical homebuyer using private MI with 5% down can shave off many years that would otherwise be spent on the homebuying sidelines and can come to the closing table with tens of thousands of dollars less in closing costs. Private MI creates homeownership opportunities for these qualified borrowers, particularly first-time homebuyers who made up 65% of purchasers with private MI in 2024. Further, private MI paid monthly by the borrower — the most common form — is a temporary cost, which can be canceled once the loan meets certain requirements.

Additionally, publicly reported data confirm that the cost of private MI has declined 25% since 2017, in contrast to other costs of homeownership like homeowner’s insurance and property taxes. And, thanks to the recent passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, MI premiums will once again be deductible for qualifying homeowners on their federal income taxes beginning in tax year 2026.

From 2007 through 2021, the MI premium deduction was claimed 44 million times, by an average of 3.4 million homeowners each year, representing a combined $65 billion in deductions for hardworking Americans. In tax year 2021, qualified taxpayers received an average deduction of $2,364, according to IRS data. Those savings add up, which is why the MI tax deduction has enjoyed broad support from lawmakers on both sides of the aisle, industry groups, housing advocates and civil rights organizations who all see value in how the deduction benefits hardworking American families without increasing risk in the housing finance system.

Half of Americans say protein has become a ‘premium’ ingredient and it’s worth the higher price tag: New study

(BPT) – The protein is extra — and new Empower research reveals that 43% of Americans say protein-enhanced versions of everyday items like bagels, chips, and drinks are worth the higher price, rising to 54% for younger generations. Over 1 in 2 Americans (55%) report protein and protein-added items cost more due to inflation and tariffs, and 52% say the rise of protein products has noticeably increased their grocery spending (60% younger generations). Half (49%) think protein has become a “premium” ingredient and they expect to pay more for foods labeled high-protein (57% younger generations).

Younger consumers are driving the protein trend, with 56% of Gen Z and Millennials willing to spend more (versus 34% older generations; 44% overall) — adding up to 3x as much money on protein items than Boomers ($71 per week vs. $27, respectively).

As fast-casual counters and beverages deliver options, shoppers are opting in: 48% of people (and 60% of younger generations) often choose grain or salad bowls with added protein, and 42% upgrade meals by adding a “double protein” option (e.g., double chicken, extra tofu, additional steak), rising to 57% for younger generations. Some 39% say they add a boost to smoothies for an upcharge (53% younger generations; 17% Boomers). Four in 10 (41%) people would reduce spending on other grocery categories (e.g., snacks, produce) to afford more protein-based items (53% Millennials).

Protein price tag

Americans spend an average of $50 a week on protein products, with younger generations spending the most:

Make it a double

More than half of people (55%) say they adjust their diet daily to make sure they get enough protein (62% younger generations) and 46% say they buy dedicated “high-protein” products such as shakes, powders, and bars (60% Millennials; 55% Gen Z; 27% Boomers). Compared to the regular version of a product, 72% would be willing to pay more for added protein or a protein-enhanced version. Though 65% of people think most protein-added products are overpriced, half (49%) will spend between $1-$5 more on them, with 23% open to paying between $1-$2 more. Just 28% would not pay any more money.

When it comes to categories where consumers are most willing to pay a premium for protein, traditional sources like meat (57%), eggs (40%), and dairy (32%) top the list, though the trend is expanding to newer categories like pasta (23%) and coffee products (17%).

Check the label

Half (50%) of shoppers say protein content is one of the first things they check on nutrition labels (vs. 37% of Boomers). When shopping for groceries, 45% actively look for items that have added protein versions (54% younger generations).

  • 49% say when they see “added protein”‘ on a product label, it makes it more appealing (58% Millennials).
  • 46% prefer snacks specifically labeled as “high-protein” (56% younger generations).
  • 47% would rather pay extra for protein than for other health-focused add-ons (e.g., fiber, probiotics, vitamins), dipping to 33% of Boomers.
  • 43% say even if it costs more, they would switch to a different brand if it offered more protein, rising to 55% for younger generations.

Due to a variety of economic factors, namely inflation, the cost of car insurance has risen significantly over the last five years, putting record numbers of U.S. consumers into the market shopping for more affordable policies, according to J.D. Power.

Mercury’s research and development team has compiled the lists by examining vehicles currently available at car dealerships.

“It’s imperative that consumers research average car insurance costs for the vehicles they are considering, as this may help narrow the list. Mercury’s most-affordable-vehicles-to-insure lists are a great place to start,” said Chong Gao, Director of Product Management R&D for Mercury Insurance. “Luxury vehicles and EVs, for example, are generally not ideal choices for those looking to maximize insurance savings. However, there are some deals to be had, as our lists do include a few upscale vehicles.”
